Lines in the upper face (forehead), above the nose (glabella), around the nose (bunny lines) and around the eyes (crows feet) are all created by the gradual effect of depressor muscles becoming stronger than the lifting muscles.

AZZALURE is a botulinum protein which deactivates these depressor muscles and allows the lifting muscles to become active again. This smoothes or reduces the lines or wrinkles restoring a more youthful appearance.

Treatment is carried out in a single short visit with no local anaesthetic required. The effects are noticeable within 3-10 days and typically last for 3 months.

Interestingly, over time (and with repeated administration of Azzalure) these recall intervals actually get longer as the lifting muscles strengthen.

Most patients are suitable for treatment but a few exceptions include:

• Pregnancy
• Nursing mothers
• History of reactions to toxins or albumin
• Pre-existing motor neurone disease (eg, myasthenia gravis, Eaton-Lambert syndrome, neuropathies)
• Blood Coagulation Disorders
• Infection at the injection site
• Patients taking an aminglycoside antibiotic-eg gentamycin, neomycin, amikacin or tobramycin
• Patients taking anaesthetics or muscle relaxants

After Treatment you should:

• Avoid touching the treated area for 3-4 hours.
• Do not exercise , bend excessively (no shoe shopping!)or lie down for 4 hours
• Gently work the product into your muscles by frowning, raising your eyebrows and squinting
• Avoid extreme facial expressions
• Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 48hours.
• After washing treated areas, gently pat dry with a soft towel
• Avoid wearing make-up for 12 hours after treatment
• No facials or chemical skin peels etc for 2 weeks
• Exposure to strong sunlight, sunbeds , very cold temperatures and saunas should be avoided for 2 weeks
• Do not wear a crash helmet on the day treatment has taken place

Lines or wrinkles in the lower face are more commonly due to the loss of the body's own natural hyaluronic acid and are usually treated with DERMAL FILLERS. Hyaluronic acid binds with water in the body to give the skin volume. The dermal fillers (Teosyal) used at The Buckley Practice are made from hyaluronic acid and simply replace this lost material. Results are immediately visible with improvement as water combines with the material to restore volume over the following 72 hours.

Dermal fillers are used for nasolabial (from the base of the nose to the corners of the mouth) lines, smokers lines (between the nose and the lip) and labiomental lines (from corners of the mouth to the chin). They can also be used to plump up the lips and enhance cheek volume. Treatment is carried out in a single visit and usually requires some local anaesthesia. The effects last very approximately 12 months.

After treatment:

• make up should not be used for 12 hours
• extremes of temperature (eg intense cold or saunas) should be avoided for 7 days
