Invisalign

This is the virtually invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made clear aligners. Very accurate impressions are taken of your teeth and these are scanned by Invisalign. 3-D computer technology is then used to create your aligners. A software program called Clincheck is used by the Orthodontist to plan your treatment and you can be shown how your teeth will look on the completion of treatment and also how your teeth will move from their current positions using a 3D computer simulation of your teeth. You wear each aligner for 2 weeks and gradually your teeth are moved into their correct positions - the result is straighter teeth and a great smile!

Fixed braces

These essentially consist of brackets which are the attachments that are glued on to each tooth and wires which connect all the brackets together and apply the force to enable the teeth to move. They come in a variety of types:

• Victory

  
  These are high quality metal brackets which provide excellent results and are often used in children and sometimes in adults where are stronger bracket is required than a ceramic bracket.

• Damon

  
  The Damon system is a fixed brace that has very low friction compared with normal braces and this can allow the teeth to move more quickly with low forces, particularly in cases where no teeth have been extracted. The distance between appointments can be lengthened as the combination of the Damon system and high technology, shape-memory wires means fewer adjustment visits are required. The new Damon Clear bracket is also available for the upper teeth giving very good aesthetics whilst retaining the low friction properties of the traditional Damon bracket.

• Ceramic Brackets

  
  These are very popular with our adult patients as they are tooth coloured and blend in with your teeth so that your fixed braces are quite inconspicuous.
